Ella Korth is a singer-songwriter and driving guitar and banjo player. Growing up in a family heavily immersed in the acoustic music scene created a lifelong passion for both bluegrass and old-time music, which Ella brings to her craft. Recently, Ella has been touring as a side musician with Leith Ross in Europe, the US and Canada. Ella played guitar in Grammy Award winner John Reischman’s band at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and filled in on country telecaster with Boy Golden and Fontine at over the summer. Ella has also been playing in Madeleine Roger and Le Ren’s bands. Ella played on Juno Award winner Trent Freeman's EP alongside John Reischman, banjo extrodinaire Allison de Groot, and Alan Mackie. With her own musical project, Ella has played a number of festivals including Kluane Mountain Bluegrass Festival, NimbleFingers, Cowichan Valley Bluegrass Festival, Oly Old Time and Folk’n Fiddle Music Festival. She’s opened for Mama’s Broke, and frequently collaborates and co-writes with both singer-songwriters and instrumentalists in her community. Passionate about songwriting and co-writing, Ella won a Kootenay Music award for “Best Roots Song” in 2018 with Talel McBriar. Growing up, Ella recorded and performed in the duo Ella & Talel with her friend and fellow musician Talel McBriar. The duo performed with the ViaRail Artists on Board program in the summer of 2019, playing on the train from Halifax to Vancouver. In spring of 2024, Ella recorded her first record, full of original songs in Nashville, TN. It is set to be released in early 2025.
