She was born and raised in the mountains of Northern British Columbia, and her hometown, Smithers, has a rich and diverse music community. She has been fiddling from the age of 4, and singing since birth, surrounded by talented and inspiring mentors, friends, and family. In her live performances she uses a violin, mic, loop pedal and effects board to create hypnotic soundscapes full of intricate harmony, organic beats, and haunting strings. She draws creative inspiration from a wellspring of artists like Agnes Obel, Portishead, Massive Attack, Bonobo, Hannah Epperson, and Tom Yorke. Though her roots are folk fiddle and classical violin, she has moved into the realms of alternative and trip hop, feeling drawn to ambient dissonance; to layers and velvety depths. Her song writing celebrates life for being raw, colorful, intricate and exquisite iLLann has recently begun facilitating sound healing journeys, where she incorporates singing bowls, harp, chimes, mantras, and poetry into the soundscape. She has collaborated with healers of various mediums on these journeys, and is very inspired to continue expanding on this offering
