pseudo-antigone (stylized all lowercase, pronounced like the Greek tragedy) is the experimental pop and hyperpop project of philosopher and interdisciplinary artist Simone Atenea Medina Polo.

As pseudo-antigone, Atenea explores audio engineering through experimental pop and hyperpop. Her sound design is detailed and meticulous, leaning into metallic synth textures, loud fuzzy basses, and punchy beats. Her work often blends playful irony and heartbreaking earnestness informed by her psychoanalytic scholarship, such as in her album Melancholic Melodrama (2025).

Melancholic Melodrama has charted across Canadian radio stations, notably earning her a #2 spot in earshot! Distro's national electronic chart in October 2025. She has performed at various festivals such as Winterruption YEG, Purple City, and Sled Island.
