“The Meating” (@_meating) is a jazz ambient duo composed of multi-instrumentalist Marc Micu (@marcmyt) and jazz electric guitarist Ryan Keating (@ryanjkeating). Sharing a love for jazz, both members are also in a country band Reuben Shepherd Band, and indie-folk rock band Thistle, as well as many other bands respectively.

Marc and Ryan started busking regularly together in March of 2026 on Government St. in Victoria Downtown, as well as on the corner of Oxford St. and Cook St. in Cook Street Village. Their music collected a lot of buzz, as passers-by shared that it was “what the city needs”, and how The Meating’s sounds complimented the urban cityscape of Vancouver Island.

On May 27, 2026 during a local open mic, busker Chris Elliot suggested to the duo that they should create a social media presence - which birthed The Meating. In only a month, they have gained 312 followers, and over 155,000 collective views.
